Excellent cooperation has been established with the International Health Exchange Center (IHEC) of the Sichuan Provincial Public Health Bureau. Future academic exchange programs and development programs for rural hospitals are being considered.

FOC has one associate working as a healthcare professional. She is employed at Hanzhong Welfare Center in Shaanxi Province and is involved in training others in rehabilitation techniques. We have a number of people with qualifications and skills in the medical profession who would eventually like to use their skills in China, especially in training or educational programs at the grass-roots level.

The FOC Representative Office in Qinghai arranged for public health and sanitation training programs in the township of Zeku in March and June 2003. Cooperation with the local government offices has been excellent and similar future training programs are being planned.

FOC Associates in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, in cooperation with Gothenburg University, Sweden, arranged for the visit of a medical doctor. This medical professional taught about HIV/AIDS for one week at Xinjiang Medical University, and at their affiliated hospital. In addition, investigations were carried out into setting up a cooperative exchange for students and PhD candidates to be located on a short-term basis at these two universities.
